A Distributor Becomes a Demonstrator – and an Educator

nexAir LLC’s Advanced Welding & Cutting Demonstration Lab features equipment such as a Miller PerformArc™ pre-engineered robotic work cell. These work cells are used in series production of parts, with potential to increase productivity. The work cell was designed as an exhibition of the ability to complete the produce weldments repeatedly, thereby freeing up the experienced welders to do more challenging, less repetitive projects.

nexAir’s new lab also has a Retro Systems CNC plasma-cutting table outfitted with Hypertherm’s HPR series plasma power supplies. Together, the table and power supplies allow fabricators to cut many parts quickly that formerly had been produced using more expensive laser cutting. It incorporates Hypertherm’s True Hole™ technology, which produces holes with significantly better accuracy than previously possible using plasma, without operator intervention.

In addition to this equipment, the nexAir demonstration lab has three welding work stations installed with Fronius, Lincoln Electric, Miller, and Hypertherm welding equipment and accessories. nexAir customers will be able try out the equipment before deciding to purchase – or they may come to the lab with product specifications to see how the equipment can expedite their current processes.

The micro-bulk gas system makes possible “almost instant” changes of the gas mixtures, an efficiency that extends to the gas refill process: it’s equipped with a telemetry system that checks the contents of the tanks and dispatches a liquid micro-bulk truck to replenish the supplies when gas levels are low.

The demonstration lab is managed by nexAir sales engineer Samantha Noland, who earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, and oversees training in welding, robotics, and automation sales/support.
