Inflatable Pipe Stoppers are available as a low cost way to prevent the flow of liquids and solids in pipes. The stoppers cover the range of pipe sizes from 50 to 2,000 mm diameter. They are available in a variety of shapes, including pancake style, sausage shape, spherical, rectangular, and ball shaped formats as well as the most popular cylindrical types. The stoppers can be used as overnight devices to prevent the ingress of dirt, vermin, and animals. A new range has an inflatable inner section surrounded by waterproof polyurethane coated over cover to protect the internal bladder. The coating gives the stop-pers a low coefficient of friction and will prevent the build up of static electricity as the stoppers are dragged through the pipes. Each stopper is provided with a 2 m length inflatable hose and a shut off valve. The stoppers are ideal for use in difficult access conditions as they will insert through holes as small as 50 mm diameter and expand to full size. They can be used with any pipe materials and special, more rugged versions made from PVC for testing of concrete pipe joints are available. Other applications include the use in power plants for the sealing of turbine pipework during decommissioning to prevent moisture from entering the system, sealing of pipework, ducts or entries where machining has to be carried out to prevent swarf from falling inside and blocking of pipes or ducts containing flammable or noxious gases to allow operators to carry out repair or replacement functions.
