The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded a patent to United Air Specialists Inc. (UAS) for the pulse-jet cleaning system in its SFC series of downward flow cartridge dust collectors. Pulse-jet technology requires fewer pulse cycles to clean the cartridge filters, reduces compressed air usage, and increases filter life.
The system, which uses a diverging isothermal flow nozzle and venture, pulses the air at a precisely calculated distance through an unobstructed filter airway. In effect, dust is "pulsed off" the filter so the cartridge cleaning power is improved. The SFC system uses external filter tracks to support the filters instead of internal filter supports "yokes" that interfere with cleaning. This allows for unobstructed airflow and increased cleaning power with less energy.
UAS introduced its SFC series in 2003. The dust collectors work in environments such as metalworking, including grinding, welding, and buffing.
