Disk laser
Trumpf (www.us.trumpf.com) has introduced an 8-kW disk laser that the company says has a characteristic high electrical efficiency and high beam quality at multi-kilowatt laser output. Acording to Trumpf, the TruDisk 8002 processes almost any material, including highly reflective materials such as copper and aluminum, without difficulty. The laser welds 10 mm (0.39-in.) deep in construction steel with a speed of 1 meter per minute (39.37 ipm). At a speed of 20 meters per minute (66.62 ft. per minute), the laser welds 3 mm (0.118 in.) deep. The cooling unit and beam switches are integrated to make the laser compact in size.
