The new process control and weld inspection systems provide users with the ability to ensure that all products are within tolerance. The programming and user-friendly graphical interface makes it useful to operators, technicians, welding engineers and quality control special-ists. The laser-vision system measures the geometry of the weld but also identifies porosity, undercut, and spatter. Customer specification limits are programmed into the system for warning and reject levels, which are clearly displayed. The type and location are the defect are recorded and can automatically be displayed on a picture of the part for easy understanding and disposition. The system is applicable to any type of welding, including arc, laser, and resistance, as well as sealant and adhesive applications.
