Metal Ion Concentration Measurement Tool
The
Fischerscope X-Ray and advanced WinFTM software can measure and
test the metal ion concentration in electrolytes of electrolytic
baths economically and in only minutes. Using X-Ray fluorescence
and controlled by WinFTM, the tester will analyze electrolytic
baths for the present ion content of one or two metals. Relative
concentration levels are detected in minutes. WinFTM eliminates the
need for varying electrolyte concentrations. The process is
standards-free, and results in an simple, accurate measurement that
can be completed in shop close to the baths. This on-site
measurement capability eliminates the need to send samples of
electrolytic baths to outside chemical lab companies or using the
time consuming atomic absorption method. Accuracies in a range of
0.1 and 0.5 g/l are maintained as extensive measurement series
using the titration method have proving. This allows electroplating
plants using the system to measure the metal ion concentration of
gold, palladium, zinc, nickel, copper, lead, and tin in
electrolytic baths within a short time and without titration. Also
developed was a cell to ensure a uniform mass of the electrolyte
sample to be measured, which is critical for accuracy and
dependability. The operator just fills a small amount of the
electrolyte into a measuring cell container, covers it, and then
secures it with a tension ring. The cell is placed in the
instrument and positioned so the primary X-ray and ensures
repeatable and accurate measurement results.
