Victor from Thermadyne Industries Inc. (www.Thermadyne.com) has announced a new ordering process for specialty gas regulators that simplifies the procedure and improves delivery of the product. Called the Configurator program, the process eliminates the need for the 8-digit part number Victor previously used. The part number is now derived by a configured string or description that identifies each regulator.
Victor is changing the description of a part to become the part number, such as the model, outlet pressure, inlet connection, outlet connection and options. When a customer requires a custom regulator, the Configurator will provide the avenue to create the bill of materials and provide instant pricing and availability.
The Configurator makes the process simpler and less confusing to minimize ordering mistakes and enables us to get the parts to our customers faster, said Randy Niederer, marketing manager for Americas Gas Equipment.
The Configurator also simplifies the pricing for High Purity and Instrumentation (HP&I) regulators. It provides a base price for each series of regulators and makes it easier to add options.

Grinding wheels for aluminum
A new line of abrasive grinding wheels from Rex-Cut Products Inc. (www.rexcut.com) nfor working on aircraft- and marine-grade aluminum provides controlled grinding action and reduced loading.
The Rex-Cut Sigma-Green grinding wheels feature a blend of zirconia and ceramic abrasives in a 46-grit, 4.5-in. version that provides fast and heavy stock removal on 5000 and 6000 series aircraft- and marine-grade aluminum. The company said the wheels produce a better finish than resinoid grinding wheels, provider smooth control, with little vibration and are non-loading.
Eliminating the need for wax or other grinding aids to prevent loading, the wheels save time in production applications. They are available in 4.5-in. by 0.875-in. and 4.5-in. by 0.625-in.-11 sizes with or without hubs. Other sizes and grits are available for grinding stainless steel, Inconel, titanium and other hard materials.
Zirconia flap wheels
CGW-Camel Grinding Wheels (www.cgwheels.com) said its new line of zirconia flap wheels provides sharper cutting action and longer working life than aluminum oxide flap wheels. CGW zirconia flap wheels have cotton-backed flaps for flexibility and 0.250-in. shanks for easy use.
The wheels are available in four diameters 1 in., 1.5 in., 2 in., and 3 in. and 40, 60, and 80 grit sizes. Zirconia flap wheels are recommended for smoothing and deburring steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals and alloys. CGW's zirconia flap wheels are sold in quantities of 10 and are packaged in white corrugated cartons for display and convenient use.
Reduced fume electrode
Select-Arc Inc. (www.select-arc.com) has introduced an all-position electrode that uses microalloying and special fluxing ingredients to produce enhanced CVN toughness at lower temperatures. The company said Select 71 Supreme is a gas-shielded, tubular, flux cored wire that provides improved deposition rates and higher welder appeal as compared with conventional rutile electrodes. Also, it significantly reduces fume emission and spatter levels and delivers a fast freezing slag that facilitates all-position welding.
Select 71 Supreme is for welding carbon steels requiring 70,000 psi. The electrode's combination of strength, toughness and reduced fumes make it well suited for welding structural steel, farm machinery, construction equipment, railcar fabrication and shipbuilding, where the following steels may be employed: ASTM A131, A285, A515 Gr 70 and A516 Gr 70.
