Hobart claims wear, abrasion, and impact resistance with McKay ArmorWear open-arc or self-shielded, flux-cored, hard-surfacing wire for 110 to 120 V wire-welding machines. The wire is suitable as an overlay on carbon and low alloy steels. It deposits a martensitic alloy steel of H-12 tool steel that maintains its hardness up to 1,000° F while providing good performance with straight polarity. It offers a smooth spray transfer suitable for flat and horizontal hardsurfacing. The 0.035-in. diameter wire comes on 10-lb. spools.
