United Spiral Pipe LLC formally dedicated its new state-of-the-art welded pipe manufacturing facility in Pittsburg, CA, adding 120 new jobs.

United Spiral Pipe LLC is a joint venture between U.S. Steel (35%), POSCO (35%), and SeAH Steel Corp (30%). The new facility has the capacity to produce, at its peak, 300,000 net tons of line pipe annually to meet anticipated demand in North America for spiral welded pipe, for natural gas and oil transmission projects. The facility will produce pipe with outside diameters ranging from 24 to 64 inches and will implement an advanced and automated two-step welding process that gives USP a competitive advantage.

“The capacity and location of this facility will favorably position United Spiral Pipe to be an active, competitive, participant in the expanding market for large-diameter line pipe in North America,” said U.S. Steel chairman and CEO John Surma.
