ESAB Changes Sales Staffing

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products (esabna.com) made several changes in the management of its sales operations.

The company has named a new vice president for strategic accounts, a new vice president for sales support operations, and new vice presidents for its eastern and western sales territories.

George Learmonth was made vice president of strategic accounts for North America.

Learmonth is overseeing sales activities to large end users and major distributors in the United States, and is based in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

Learmonth received a bachelor’s degree in welding engineering from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Golden Gate University. He has been in the welding industry for 25 years. Previously, he was ESAB’s director of strategic accounts.

Greg Stauffer was made vice president of sales support.

Stauffer has responsibility for overseeing all sales support, including inside sales, application engineering, customer service, training, recruiting and business systems for the United States. He is based in Florence, S.C.

Stauffer received a bachelor’s degree in education from Morningside College. He has been with ESAB for 28 years and served as territory sales manager, area sales manager, regional sales manager, and vice president of sales.

David Abe was made vice president of sales for ESAB’s Western Zone.

Abe has responsibilities for overseeing all sales activities in the western half of the United States. He has relocated from Atlanta to the Denver area.

Abe holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and has 28 years of management experience. He spent most of his career in the welding industry with Harris Calorific, a division of the Lincoln Electric Company, where he focused on gas apparatus and plasma products. Most recently Abe was associated with the pressure and temperature instrumentation business, serving as executive vice president, sales and marketing, for WIKA Instrument Corporation in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Jerry Gleisner was made vice president of sales, Eastern Zone.

Gleisner will oversee all sales activities on the eastern half of the United States. He will be based in Clayton, N.C.

Gleisner received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University. He was most recently Zone Manager for Sandvik Coromant.


Magill Named Vice President and General Manager for Wheelabrator

Martin Magill was appointed vice president and general manager of Wheelabrator Group and Wheelabrator Plus Commercial Operations (www.wheelabratorgroup.com).

Magill is responsible for aftermarket commercial operations for the United States, Canada and Latin America, including business performance and execution, process improvement, market development, sales effectiveness and regional expansion.

Magill joined Wheelabrator Group in 1504 after eight years with General Electric’s Plastics Division in product management, sales and marketing leadership and global business development. Prior to GE, he worked for five years with H. Muehlstein in sales and account management.

Magill is a 1987 graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a 1504 MBA graduate of the University of Massachusetts Isenburg School of Business.

Wheelabrator Group provides surface preparation and finishing products and systems and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.


Ribardo Named to Hobart Institute of Welding Board

Directors of the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology (hiwt@welding.org) elected Charlie Ribardo Jr., Ph.D., PE to serve as trustee.

A graduate of The Ohio State University and Texas A&M University, Ribardo has more than 17 years of experience in the fields of welding engineering, materials research, manufacturing and management, and brings extensive expertise and education in the areas of welding processes, design, metallurgy, and nondestructive evaluation to the board.

“In the several years that I have been involved with Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the students, former students, and dedicated staff and instructors. I recognize the rich history and the important mi s s ion thi s ins t i tut ion fulfills. I hope to contribute to a successful future through many years of participation and interaction with this fine organization,” Ribardo said.

Ribardo is employed by BP America, Inc., Houston, Texas, and provides management and welding support to concurrent on-shore, off-shore, and sub-sea projects. He is a member of the American Welding Society, American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), and ASM International, and he serves on the Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee at Texas A&M University.

He is the author of numerous documents and was named a Graduate Fellow of the Edison Welding Institute and an Outstanding Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University.
