MagneGas Corp. reported its first industrial-scale recycling complex for converting “highly infected liquid waste” into a hydrogen-based metal working fuel is complete. The 500-kWh plant, which sterilizes municipal or agricultural sewage, is in the testing and certification phase in the Tampa area.

The company also signaled plans to deliver a 300-kW version of the refinery technology to a Mexican company, Inmobiliaria Grupo Corporativo S.A. de C.V., or Green Planet Aid. GPA intends to purchase the refinery and exclusive distribution rights to MagneGas fuel for the Mexican market for a five-year period.

The testing period should be complete and the analysis available in early August and MagneGas indicated the sale to GPA would follow immediately, “assuming favorable results.”

Tampa-based MagneGas developed and patented the Plasma Arc Flow^™ process to gasify liquid industrial, municipal, agricultural, and military liquid wastes into a “clean burning fuel.” It commercialized the waste-to-fuel conversion method about two years ago, and has licensed it to fabricators who use it as cutting fuel or process gas, and to distributors.

The developer further indicated the alternative fuel might be used by municipalities to power industrial equipment or vehicles, and it has previously said it is safe for cooking or heating, among other applications.

"While our immediate commercial focus has been on fuel production, we have always kept one eye toward fulfilling the full potential of the MagneGas Technology," stated Scott Wainwright, the company president. "With this new biowaste sterilization plant we will be able to tangibly demonstrate to potential purchasers a new, green wastewater management solution, and pending testing results, one ready for immediate sale and implementation both domestically and internationally."
