Jet Edge, Inc. (www.jetedge.com) has introduced a high rail gantry precision waterjet system that the company said can produce complex parts from almost any material. The system features an overhead design that provides stability and allows full access to the work envelope while raising critical components out of the process environment. The Jet Edge uses high-volume, low-pressure air around the ballscrews and linear motion guides and bearings to increase durability by preventing contamination from entering these areas. The high rail gantry has a repeatability of 0.002 in. over its entire work envelope. It is available in 2-ft (0.6 m) increments from 4-ft by 4-ft (1.2 m by 1.2 m) to 24-ft by 14-ft. (7.3 m by 4.3 m). Custom sizes are available, and the system is designed to be expanded in place. The high rail gantry is powered by Jet Edge’s line of intensifier pumps that range from 30 hp to 200 hp, and are rated for 60,000 psi (4,100 bar).
