A new friction welding system from Coldwater Machine Co. (www.coldwatermachine.com) is designed for a range of applications, including joining small parts, configuring parts and welding dissimilar materials. The weld head spindle of the FWS-30 model is servo controlled. The machine can achieve precise rotational speeds from 12,000 rpm to 23,400 rpm, and forging forces from 335 pounds of force (lbf) to 3,125 lbf can be applied accurately.
