Cincinnati Inc. (www.eci.com) introduced a laser-cutting system that delivers 10,000 in. per minute head positioning, 1,000 in. per minute cutting on 18 gage steel and a processing range of as much as 1.125-in. on mild steel. The CL-850 combines GE Fanuc's 5000W laser resonator with Cincinnati's linear-motor-drive system. The system has standard auto focus, and an improved breakway feature that the company says stops debris from entering the beam path and allows beam alignment to be checked without removing the head.
