Lasers process thin sheetmetal
The Trumph TCF 1
is a diffusion-cooled CO2 laser with an output of 2 kw for thin
sheetmetal applications. The manufacturer reports the unit's 12.4
ft 3 and 550 lb makes it one of the lightest beam
sources in its class. Laser light is generated between two
tube-shaped electrodes with an annular arrangement. This reportedly
places a less-critical demand on the gap dimension in free
propagation, compared to wave-guided resonators. Units feature low
gas and energy consumption, and because of their small footprint,
mount easily on machines or robots. The lasers can be employed in
clean-rooms because they do not generate air movement. A 4-kw model
is also available.
