Lasers process thin sheetmetal
The Trumph TCF 1
is a diffusion-cooled CO2 laser with an output of 2 kw. It is for
thin sheetmetal applications. The manufacturer reports that the
unit's 12.4 ft 3 and 550 lb makes it one of the lightest
beam sources in its class. The laser light is generated between two
tube-shaped electrodes with an annular arrangement. This combined
with the free-beam-propagation in the resonator places a
less-critical demand on the gap dimension in free propagation,
compared to wave-guided resonators. The unit features low gas and
energy consumption, and its small footprint lets it mount on
machines or robots. The laser can be used in clean-rooms because it
does not generate air movement. A 4-kW model is also available.
