The Esco “Ground” Millhog, an air-powered, right-angle welding end-prep tool designed for stainless steel tubes and others with a high percentage of chrome, and fitting a “Dutchman,” has been introduced by Esco Tool (www.escotool.com). The tool is is a right angle drive inside-diameter clamping welding end-prep tool for water wall boiler tube panels from 0.5-in. inside diameter to 2.250-in. outside diameter by 0.5-in. thick, and can fit between tubes having only a 1.5-in. radial clearance. Suitable for end-prepping stainless steel and highly alloyed tubes, it has a rigid wedge-style blade lock system for chatter-free operation, uses titanium nitride (TiN) coated cutter blades and can produce any angle of bevel.

Providing self-centering, torque-free operation, the Esco “Ground” Millhog features a push-pull clamp and release mechanism that disengages easily and has totally sealed construction and can be used in any orientation. Eliminating hand grinding, this pneumatic tool is said to produce clean, consistent end preps, without cutting fluids, to help provide X-ray certifiable welds.
