Trumpf Inc. (www.trumpf.com) opened a new laser facility, Laser Innovation & Technical Excellence (LITE), on its Farmington, Conn., campus.

The facility was designed for research and manufacturing, and will be used to develop new lasers, expand the company's production of laser resonators, and maintain state-of-the-art laser technology.

The facility represents an investment of $29 million, and adds 86,000 sq. ft. under roof to Trumpf's campus. It features a new 55,200-sq.-ft. production hall and a 6,000-sq.-ft., class 10,000 cleanroom designed for the manufacturing and testing of CO2 and solid-state laser resonators. Approximately 120 employees staff the new facility.
