A new line of arc welding equipment introduced by ESAB Welding & Cutting Products can be customized to users’ particular applications by allowing them to “mix and match” wire feeders, control panels, and power supplies. The new line offers four wire feeder/control panel selections, each of which can be combined with one of three power sources. If a user wants to increase the functionality of the equipment in the future, the control panel or power source can be upgraded.

ESAB’s Origo Feed and Aristo Feed are encased in a galvanized metal housing, sturdy enough to endure use in tough environments. Electronically controlled feeding makes the arc accurate and stable, while the four-roll feeder mechanism with grooves in both the feed and pressure rolls provide a stable feed with low wear on the wire. All adjustments are made on the man-machine communication panels of the feeder, which also provides an overview of the settings for easy use. The feeders have 30-mm diameter rolls for wires up to 0.062 in. (1.6 mm) diameter.

The Origo Feed 3004 with M23 panel is a sturdy, easy-to-use welder with features for reliable MIG, FCAW, and stick welding, including 2/4 stroke, gas pre/post flow, digital V/A meters, gas purge/wire inching, memory for three-parameter sets, quick connectors for short set-up times, and the ESAB TrueArcVoltage system that measures the correct arc voltage value independent of the length of the interconnection cable, return cable or welding torch.

The Origo Feed 3004 with MA24 panel adds QSet, a function that optimizes welding parameters in short arc for solid-wire welding in stainless and carbon steels. The user sets the wire feed speed, and QSet automatically identifies the correct welding parameters for the required wire/gas combination. QSet will adjust automatically during the process to maintain optimal wire/gas usage and prevent waste of resources. This feeder also offers creep start, crater filling and pre-programmed synergic lines.

In addition, Aristo Feed 3004 with U6 panel offers all these capabilities, as well as the ability to create up to 60 synergic lines, allowing what ESAB calls ”one-knob” set up for welding with solid wire, cored wire, metal-cored wire and various gas mixes. It also offers memory for 10 parameter sets.

To the above features, the Aristo Feed 3004 with U82 Plus panel adds ESAB’s SuperPulse technology for heat control. This remote pendant gives users the ability to create up to 92 synergic lines with memory for 255 parameter sets. Once the process is selected (e.g., MIG or MIG Plus), and the wire diameter, wire type and shielding gas are indicated, the machine sets all other parameters. ESAB reports that this capability makes it easy for inexperienced welders to produce quality welds.

The three power sources feature chopper technology with digital (CANbus) communications and control systems that use fewer cables to increase operational reliability. An optional dust filter handles tough and dirty environments, and prevents grinding dust and metal particles from entering the chassis. The Mig 4002c provides 400A @ 60% duty cycle; the Mig 5002 c provides 500A @ 60% duty cycle, and the Mig 6502c provides 650A @ 60% duty cycle.
