New Range of Portable TIG DC Welding Machines

Modular system with built-in device to harmonize currents

Air Liquide Welding Group’s Oerlikon brand has introduced a portable TIG DC welding machines, the CITOTIG DC, which offer a single-phase power source. The lightweight (9.5 kg) and compact units have a user-friendly interface and are recommended for job-site projects (e.g., offshore rigs and oilfield welding, shipbuilding), maintenance welding, and other manual arc welding projects with carbon and stainless steel materials.

The CITOTIG DC is based on a modular design, making it reliable for on-site welding. Its built-in HPF (high-power factor) device is a device that harmonizes current absorption, to reduce current peaks and network disturbances. The units are fitted with a 16-Ampere plug, are compatible with a generators (±20% input voltage variations), and are suitable for use with cables up to 70-m long.

The machines operate at lower power — up to 220 A with a 16-A plug — and the two Expert models will store up to 30 operating programs. There are three models in all, covering an increasing range of welding power: CITOTIG 1600 HPF (160 A at 35%); CITOTIG 1800 Expert (160 A at 40%); and CITOTIG 2200 Expert (220 A at 35%).

The Expert models achieve a complete welding cycle and include a digital display that makes it possible to visualize welding parameter settings. Optional upgrades include a remote control and a foot pedal. The machines are compliant with the EN 61000-3-2/12 standard, which limits harmonic currents produced by equipment connected to public low-voltage systems.
