Training Center Turns Workers Into WeldersSep 20, 2013
Community colleges are a critical resource for workforce training, in particular as employers seek workers capable of honing vocational skills but also of mastering the advances in technology that are the standard in modern manufacturing technology.
In Cleveland, Cuyahoga Community College established the Advanced Technology Training Center (ATTC) last fall, a 50,000-square-foot installation for workforce education that is part of the largest technology training complex in Ohio.
“The center exists to find, train, and place the right people in the right jobs--it is always all about jobs,” said Susan Muha, executive vice president of workforce and economic development at the college.
At the core of the ATTC is a state-of-the-art welding lab, stocked with Lincoln Electric welding systems, welding plant infrastructures, and welding virtual technology training systems.
