Air Liquide America Specialty Gases LLC is introducing a line of “ultra compact,” single- and two-stage regulators for mixing reactive or corrosive gas. The gas distributor said the patented Scot regulators set new standards in the industrial gas sector for mixtures that contain low concentrations.

Air Liquide has 30 gas mixture operations and distribution centers in North America, and supplies a range of specialty and industrial gas handling equipment. These products include: web-based gas management systems, changeover manifolds, flowmeters, point-of-use panels, relief valves, cylinder storage racks, and other miscellaneous items.

The patented SilcoNert 2000 surface treatment is more powerful than other passivation processes now commercially available, according to the supplier, adding that the SilcoNert device will make surfaces 100X more inert than untreated 316L stainless steel. As a result, adsorption of reactive or corrosive gases is virtually eliminated.

Regardless of application, Air Liquide stated, the Scott regulators will help to control analytical processes with greater precision. The regulators will shorten sample cycle times, and make it possible to calibrate instruments more accurately, which will yield savings in time, labor, and materials that can be “significant,” it said.

Their compact design makes these devices easier for operators to handle, and provide results in low internal volume as well as short internal gas paths. This will shorten the cycle and purge times so that the user can work more efficiently — and reduce overall consumption of costly specialty gas.

Other design features include a low internal regulator volume that will shorten sampling cycle and purge times, and save gas; and a treated, convoluted metal diaphragm that helps to reduce the possibility of adsorption.

The SilcoNert 2000-treated fittings and valves also are available for adsorption-free gas handling. Air Liquide noted that SilcoNert 2000 treatment eliminates adsorption of reactive gases, to achieve exceptional analytical accuracy.

The regulators are available from stock for immediate shipping, with no long lead times necessary.
