Hardfacing electrodes
Select-Arc Inc.
(www.select-arc.com) designed its new electrodes for
austenitic manganese build-up on difficult hardfacing applications.
The company says it developed SelectWear MN for applications that
undergo sever impact but moderate abrasion. It produces a tough,
impact-resistant deposit that increasingly hardens with use.
SelectWear GP is used for joining, repairing and building up
manganese steel parts. Both electrode lines are available in
0.045-in., 1/16-in and 7/64-in. diameters.

For duplex stainless steels, the new Select 2209-AP flux-cored electrode is designed to weld in all positions. The company says that the electrode exhibits high strength with excellent resistance to corrosion, especially to pitting caused by chlorides in seawater. The slag is removed easily, and the weld bead is shiny, smooth and silvery.
