Corrosion Resistance Packaging
A literature
explaining the cost saving advantages of the new RustBan 105, a VCI
treatment for primary packaging of ferrous parts is available.
Rust-Ban is applied directly to corrugated, solid fiber, and other
forms of paper-board packaging during the converting process,
eliminating the material and handling costs associated with placing
corrodible products into VCI bags or wrapping them with VCI-treated
paper prior to insertion into a box or other package. With
treatment, metal products can be placed into the primary package
for storage and shipment. The packaging will protect against
corrosion whether it is in direct contact with the contents. Lab
testing has shown RustBan-treated corrugated packaging effective
and flexible. The product is nitrite-free and fully re-pulpable.
Its service life is up to two years under normal storage
conditions. Partitions, slipsheets, and specialty paper-board
products can be produced with the treatment applied to both sides.
Treated materials are gluable with a variety of coldset and hotmelt
adhesives. It can be applied with blade or rod coaters, either
inline while corrugated board is manufactured or offline to liner
board, which will be later converted into a VCI container. The
packaging is ideal for the shipment of automotive parts,
appliances, electronic components, gearing, machine tool components
and tooling, agricultural, military, and marine equipment, or for
the shipment of corrodible metal parts of any kind. The packaging
is suited for overseas shipment.
