Torchmate widens fabricator offerings; Techalloy adds to consumables selection
Welding equipment and consumables giant Lincoln Electric Holdings has purchased Applied Robotics Inc., in the first of two moves widening its range of offerings to the welding and fabricating sector. Reno, Nev.-based Applied Robotics manufactures CNC cutting tables and accessories recognized by the Torchmate brand.
The value of the acquisition was not released.
Torchmate CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting tables and systems are supplied to small- and midsized fabricators. "Metal cutting is closely aligned with arc welding, and the addition of Torchmate will bolster our ability to provide cutting process solutions for our customers," stated Lincoln chairman and CEO John M. Stropki.
"Torchmate's CNC plasma cutting tables provide an economic option to cutting solutions required by many metal fabricators,” he continued. “The Torchmate product offering will enhance existing cutting options for Lincoln Electric's customers here in North America and around the world."
"Joining with Lincoln will significantly expand our ability to reach fabricators throughout North America and worldwide," stated Torchmate CEO Bill A. Kunz. "Our portfolio of products is perfectly aligned to service the cutting needs of these customers, and I am very excited to join the Lincoln Electric team."
In a separate transaction, Lincoln acquired the welding operation assets of Techalloy Co. Inc. and parent company, Central Wire Industries Ltd. Known commercially as Techalloy, the Baltimore company is a privately held producer of nickel-alloy and stainless steel welding consumables.
The details of this purchase were likewise not released.
"The addition of Techalloy expands our product portfolio of high-alloy consumables required to service customers in North America and around the world," according to Stropki.
"In particular, Techalloy's nickel-alloy welding consumables are positioned well globally in the high-growth energy and infrastructure segments of our business. We expect growth in these segments to continue worldwide and believe the Techalloy product line will help expand and deepen our relationships with these key customers."
