Arcos Industries LLC (www.arcos.com) has introduced a bare wire – Arcos 2216 – designed for welding high-strength cast irons for critical welding applications.
The wire is a 44 percent nickel alloy (ERNiFeMn-CI) developed for all position gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc and high-speed automatic gas metal arc welding of nodular, grey, spheroidal graphite and malleable cast irons to themselves or to other materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, low-alloy steel and various nickel alloys.
The company said its Arcos 2216 workhardens under compressive loading, making it ideal for bearing surfaces and as a cushioning layer for hardsurfacing applications.
The wire is designed for use in welding automotive exhaust systems, catalytic converters and other applications that demand high strength at relatively high temperatures combined with ease of fabrication.
