AWS Warns About Unauthorized Translations
The American Welding Society (www.aws.org) has issued a warning about the use of unauthorized translations of its standards and other publications in Chinese, Spanish and other languages.

The AWS said it has not sanctioned translations, so it cannot attest to their accuracy.
“Users of AWS standards should be aware that serious technical errors may exist in unauthorized translated material,” the organization said in a prepared statement.
The AWS has authorized only the translation of AWS D1.1/ D1.1M:2004 and 2006 Structural Welding Code Steel into Japanese, and request that other translations any other translated standards and publications are unauthorized be reported to the AWS Technical Services offices at 800-443-9353, or via email adavis@ aws.org.
