The AWS said it has not sanctioned translations, so it cannot attest to their accuracy.

“Users of AWS standards should be aware that serious technical errors may exist in unauthorized translated material,” the organization said in a prepared statement.

The AWS has authorized only the translation of AWS D1.1/ D1.1M:2004 and 2006 Structural Welding Code – Steel into Japanese, and request that other translations – any other translated standards and publications are unauthorized – be reported to the AWS Technical Services offices at 800-443-9353, or via email adavis@ aws.org.

AWS publ icat ions may be purchased in the United States and Canada by calling toll-free 888-WELDING (888-935-3464); elsewhere, call 305-824-1177, fax to 305-826-6195, or order online at http://www.awspubs.com.
