Welder/generator deal

Hobart Welding Products (www.HobartWelders.com) announced a two-forthe- price-of-one deal on its Champion 10,000 welder/generator. The company said every buyer gets a generator and a welder for a price that some people pay for a generator alone. Powered by a 20 hp OHV, twin-cylinder Kohler engine or a 22 hp OHV Subaru engine, this machine produces 10,000 watts of peak auxiliary power and s 210-amp constant current, DC weld out put at 60 percent duty cycle, according to information from Hobart.

The Champion 10,000 produces 9,500 watts of continuous power while not welding from four 120V (20 amp) receptacles and one 120/240 V (50 amp) receptacle. The company said the welder/generator is ideal for farmers, ranchers, contractors, fabricators or almost anyone who needs auxiliary or emergency back-up power. The Champion 10,000 runs motors, powers tools and appliances, and provides stick as well, Hobart said.

For welding, the Champion 10,000 features Hobart’s Field Current Control (FCC) technology for smooth stick arc starts with minimal sticking of the rod. The FC monitors feedback from the welding arc and continuously adjusts the current from the generator to maintain optimum arc characteristics.

The Champion 10,000 has a 50 amp to 230 amp output for welding with 6010, 6011, 6013 and 7018 rods up to 3/16 in. and 7014 and 7024 rods up to 5/32 in. The machine also is suitable for general scratch start DC TIG and limited flux cored welding (CC flux cored welding only). In addition, the unit can be used for MIG welding aluminum when paired with the optional Olympic 30A spool gun and HWC-115A weld control, according to company information.
