AL 2003 lean duplex stainless steel plate and sheet products now are available from Rolled Alloys (www.rolledalloys.com).

The material is a duplex stainless steel that is nominally 20 percent chromium, 3 percent nickel, and 1.7 percent molybdenum. AL 2003 features high strength and stress corrosion cracking resistance, along with general and pitting corrosion resistance superior to 316L stainless.

The company said that with its low nickel and molybdenum contents, AL 2003 provides an economical way to upgrade performance over 316L. AL 2003 is approved for constructing ASME pressure vessels to 650 F.
