Abrasive flap discs

Weiler Corp. (www.weilercorp.com) said its new Big Cat abrasive flap discs last 30 to 40 percent longer than standard flap discs, and, due to their thickness and larger flaps, conform to curved and irregular surfaces. The highdensity Type 27 configuration adds flexibility for smooth grinding action and also lowers operator fatigue. Typical applications for Big Cat flap discs include weld blending, grinding, deburring, deflashing, stock removal, surface finishing and blending, and edge chamfering.

Cut rate and finish quality are maintained throughout the life of the flap discs because the multiple layers of coated abrasive material expose sharp, fresh grains as they slowly wear away.

The company said the enhanced conformability of the Big Cat abrasive flap disc also helps reduce gouging and undercutting. Big Cat flap discs are available in both 4.5-in. and 7-in. sizes, with or without a 0.625-in.-11 nut. The phenolic- backed discs are available in both aluminum oxide and zirconium.
