Wires for chrome-moly applications

Hobart Brothers Co. (www.hobartbrothers.com) said its new line of low-alloy gas-shielded flux cored wires provide excellent weldability, creep resistance and high-temperature tensile strength for chrome-moly applications. Designed for applications such as high-pressure steam and gas piping, boiler manufacturing and certain types of castings, the wires match two common types of chrome-moly steels.

For steels containing 1.125 percent chrome and 0.5 percent molybdenum (P-11), TM-81B2 and TM-811B2 wires can be used as replacements for E8018-B2 stick electrodes to increase productivity. TM-91B3 and TM-911B3 wires match the chemistry of steels with 2.125 percent chrome and 1.00 percent molybdenum (P-22) and can be used to replace E9018-B3 stick electrodes.

TM- 81B2 and TM-91B3 are for use in either a flat and horizontal position and are available in 0.0625-in. and 0.937-in. diameters. These wires are for high-deposition welding where out-of-position welding is not required. They should be only used with a 100 percent CO2 shielding gas.

TM-811B2 and TM-911B3 wires, with all-position capabilities and available in 0.045, 0.052 and 1.0625 in. diameters, are for pipe welding and other applications that may require out-of-position welding and can be used with either 100 percent CO2 or a 75 percent/ 25 percent argon/CO2 mixture. The company said an argon/CO2 mixture may produce welds with tensile strengths exceeding 100 ksi for the TM-811B2 wire, and 110 ksi for the TM- 911B3 wire. tion of a belt driver that drives any of the three types of belts provided by Metabo for sanding, polishing, deburring or finishing bars, pipes and tubes. The belts’ button-hole closures also make working with closed pipes construction possible.
