Thermite heating tip
Smith
Equipment (www.smithequipment.com) designed its new thermite
heating tip to withstand the high temperatures required to weld
rail ends. The company says the tips feature a high-tolerance
machined design that helps operators heat rail ends consistently
and evenly to en-sure sound rail weldments. The tips are made with
a solid brass head and stainless steel tube, and the company says
they have long service life. Smith Equipment says high temperature
silver brazed joints keep the tips' components secure against heat
created in the thermite welding process.
