Pulsed solid-state and flatsheet lasers
The new
TruPulse pulsed solid-state lasers from Trumpf (www.us.trumpf.com)
feature a burst function that boosts the average power briefly and
increases pulse frequency. The company says this reduces the
welding cycle in applications in which multiple spot welds are
needed. Longer pulses of up to 50 milliseconds can be used on such
applications as welding a closed, circular seam with one pulse. The
laser has an average power range of 20W to 150W at a maximum pulse
power of up to 10 kW.

In addition, Trump will introduce changes in late October to its line of flatsheet laser cutting machines with integrated automation. The company says these changes include a compact enclosure over the laser heat that is 75 percent smaller than a conventional enclosure and one-fourth its original size.
